A strong start in Dutch
NT2 Start is a method designed to develop listening skills, pronunciation, and spelling at A1 and A2 levels. The material was developed by Elske Everaerts, Hanneke Notebaert, Karlien Segers and Gerlinde Vanspringel, speech therapists at CVO Lethas Brussel. With this course pack, the speech therapy team translates its years of expertise into a practical and immediately usable resource for the NT2 classroom.
The method is intended for classroom use, can be used alongside any existing coursebook and helps teachers and learners work purposefully on listening skills, pronunciation and prosody.
The exercises start from individual sounds and gradually build up to words, phrases, sentences and dialogues. In this way, learners gain a clear understanding of how Dutch sounds and how small differences in pronunciation can lead to changes in meaning.
Some exercises include audio clips and short videos, accessible via QR codes. These support active practice, both in class and for independent study.
